The medical profession is prevalent among Jews throughout the world. This policy paper examines the process new immigrants (olim) must go through in order to obtain the appropriate licenses to engage in these professions in Israel. It is based on two assumptions: one, that State of Israel is interested in encouraging immigration and absorption; and that medical professions in Israel must be licensed in accordance with the law.
Since current conditions impose unnecessary difficulties and become o form of barrier to immigration to Israel, several recommendations are laid out to ease the process without compromising professionalism and high standards.
