Politics vs Policy: Why an EU Ban on Israeli Settlement Goods Would Require Unanimity

Director of the International Law Department Adv. Shalev authored a paper with Jonathan Turner of UK Lawyers for Israel, explaining why the proposed European ban on importing Israeli products from Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem requires a unanimous decision by the European Council, rather than a special majority. They further demonstrate how the EU operates by a double standard: it imports goods from other disputed territories, such as Northern Cyprus and Western Sahara, without imposing similar bans.
